The Charnwood references above are supplied to help identify the correct panel. Please compare your stove model, serial-prefix information and glass dimensions before ordering.
These Island panels have a gentle manufactured curve. The curve can appear slight when the glass is removed from the stove, but it is essential to how the panel sits in the door frame.
Do not attempt to replace the panel with flat glass and do not try to flatten, flex or force the new curved panel during installation. Order by the stove model and Charnwood part reference rather than relying on dimensions alone.
The glass seal forms the protective cushion between the curved glass-ceramic panel and the metal stove door. It supports the pane evenly, distributes pressure from the retainers and prevents direct glass-to-metal contact as the stove heats and cools.
The old seal is commonly compressed, hardened or damaged when the broken glass is removed. Reusing it can leave the replacement panel unevenly supported and vulnerable to concentrated pressure points.
A new 8mm × 3mm self-adhesive high-temperature glass seal is therefore supplied with every panel.
Please note: this is the thin flat seal used when fitting the stove glass. It is not the larger round rope fitted around the outer edge of the stove door.
Remove the damaged panel and old seal carefully while the stove is completely cold. Clean the glass seating area and remove all fragments, adhesive residue and hardened seal material.
Fit the new seal evenly without stretching it. Keep the replacement panel in the same curved orientation as the original glass and allow it to sit naturally in the door recess.
Refit the retainers gradually and evenly. Do not overtighten the clips or screws. They should prevent the glass from moving but must not rigidly clamp it or force it against the curve of the door.
Inspect the glass in the second door while the stove is cold. Unevenly worn seals or damage to the opposite panel may also need attention.
This is compatible replacement glass supplied by Stove Spare Glass Ltd. It is not an original Charnwood-branded spare part. Charnwood model names and part references are used only to identify compatibility.
